Unleashing the Power of Masculinity: Embracing Balance and Celebrating Strength
In today's society, masculinity often faces unwarranted criticism, particularly from outdated "second wave" feminists who construct a negative narrative. This perspective fails to recognize masculinity as a positive force, equal in importance to femininity. The portrayal of masculinity as the villain by these feminists was unfair and biased, distorting people's views of men and women. Sadly, many remain uninformed on this issue.
However, it is essential to acknowledge that men themselves played a role in this evaluation. As the dominant gender in societal structures, we failed to self-assess and understand our collective impact. Rather than shying away, cultures influenced by the anglo saxon patriarchy should have actively participated in this conversation. So, why is this relevant? It is crucial to recognize that the blame for biased views of masculinity does not land solely on one party. We must expose these flaws in perception and celebrate masculinity just as we do femininity.
Masculinity has much to offer, and it is imperative for men within any community to showcase its healthy and beautiful aspects. Without this, societal balance crumbles, resulting in flawed structures, whether under a matriarchy or patriarchy. An excess of either gender does not lead to a healthy society. Masculinity is necessary, and in order to build a healthy version, men must deeply understand its foundations.
One common misconception is associating aggression solely with masculinity. It is often depicted negatively, linked to war, bar fights, domestic abuse, rape, and more. However, aggression can also be directed towards positive outcomes. It serves as an essential tool for protection and safety. Take World War II as an example. Allied powers' aggression saved countless lives and ensured the freedoms we enjoy today. Without it, genocides would go unchecked, and femininity would struggle to thrive. Even our globalized economy owes its existence, in part, to cognitive and well-intentioned aggression.
Control is another aspect falsely associated with masculinity. While patriarchal societies placed men in controlling positions, this does not define masculinity itself (let's not dive into Hegemonic Masculinity here). In its positive form, control brings structure to chaos, as I've personally witnessed. Chaos, often manipulated by the media for their own narrative, can only be tempered through masculine control and structure. It's time we recognize that things we often label as "bad" for men can actually be presented as good and healthy when used appropriately. And trust me, this applies to femininity as well.
This is not just another pro-men's movement article. It is a call for men to embrace their true selves, honor their responsibilities, and take accountability for their masculine features. Only by doing so can we cultivate a future where positive masculinity flourishes and finds its balance within society.
